8 Lessons Learnt From Covid
What I have learned from COVID-19
By Coach Caroline Witts
I was lucky enough to be able to continue working as an outdoor personal trainer throughout this second lockdown, although there was a two-week period where I could only do zoom personal training sessions in addition to my Supafit zoom coaching.
Here are some of the things I learnt:
Family is everything. Spending a lot more time than usual with each other was irritating at times, but for the most part there are no two people I would rather be with. And those I was separated from I missed so much.
Health = happiness. I feel so lucky to have good health, access to medicine and vaccines, amazing medical services and medical professionals.
We all over value material possessions. Let’s face it, we all just needed some gym clothes, good shoes and trackie pants during this time. There was no place for new outfits, designer handbags and jewellery, nice cars, beautiful hair. We should all be living with less.
Do as much as you can at home. Bake your own bread, grow your own veggies or herbs, have a few recipes up your sleeve for kids’ treats, make your own coffee. A few changes can make you more self-sufficient which is ultimately cheaper, healthier and better for the planet.
Get outside every day. Fresh air and exercise are the best natural tonics around.
Make the effort to stay in touch with people. You don’t know what people might be going through. A friendly text, email or phone call can really brighten someone’s day.
Love where you live. We are so privileged with being so mobile in our everyday life, we are always leaving. It was so nice to just stay put, appreciate our suburbs and surrounds, and not be rushing around Sydney and beyond every weekend.
We are so so so so lucky to live in Australia.
